Welcome!
Thanks for visiting the Institute of Internal
Auditors Tidewater Chapter website. Our chapter covers the Hampton
Roads area
of Virginia (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News). It is our intent
that this
site help with our mission to provide members with opportunities to
grow
professionally and to better serve their employer through training,
networking,
CIA certification and leadership development.
If you are not a member and would like to join the Tidewater Chapter,
you may
contact any officer or Board of Governor member. All the materials you
need may

| End of Chapter Year Social Event
- The Tidewater Chapter will be hosting an end of the chapter year
social event for members and their families on Saturday, May 17 at the
Virginia Aquarium in Virginia Beach. Click here for more details. Click here for Registration. -----------------------------------------  IIA International Conference - The IIA International Conference will be held in San Francisco, CA this year during July. Click here for more information.----------------------------------------- 2008 District Conference - The Tidewater Chapter will be hosting the Mid-Atlantic Region District 1 Conference this year at the Virginia Beach Sheraton Oceanfront. The conference dates are October 23-24, 2008. Glenn Sumners will be teaching all four parts of the CIA Review course on October 22-25, 2008. May Is International Internal Audit Awareness Month! - The
IIA encourages all chapters and members to take this month to promote
the internal audit profession to audit customers, executive management,
the board and to the community at large. In Virginia,
Governor Tim Kaine declared the week of May 5-9 as Internal
Auditor Awareness Week. (Click here to see the proclamation) ------------------------------------------- Membership Madness 2008 Is Getting Ready To Start - The IIA's annual Membership Madness Campaign effort to sign sign-up new members begins May 12. Starting then, new members can save $90 off membership dues and application fees. There is an incentive to join early, as fees gradually go back up every two weeks until July 11. Audit Groups can save 20% off already discounted fees if their entire staff joins. For more details on the campaign, click here. ------------------------------------------- Congratulations to the new officers of the Tidewater Chapter - At the chapter meeting held on February 21, the following members were elected as officers for the 2008-2009 chapter year: Brenda Mendenhall - President Margaret Thompson - Vice President Sandra Gaskins - Secretary Kathleen Mitchell - Treasurer ------------------------------------------- The Internal Auditing Academic Advancement Fund (IAAAF) - Learn more about how you can help promote and advance internal auditing education in our colleges and universities through the IIA's Internal Auditing Educational Partnership (IAEP). Locally, Old Dominion University is a participant in the IAEP. Click here for more information. ------------------------------------------- Are You Receiving E-Mails and Notifications From The Chapter? - The Tidewater Chapter routinely distributes its monthly newsletter and notificiations about upcoming events via e-mail. Your ability to receive these notifications is dependent upon your membership profile kept at IIA headquarters. If you have checked not to receive e-mails from IIA or the local chapter, you will not receive e-mails from us. If you wish to change this, or if you are not sure what your profile shows, check your profile on the IIA website. Login with your member number and password, then click on "Update Profile." ------------------------------------------- Certification Update - The IIA's Computer-Based Testing (CBT) will begin on May 1. Registration will be held during April. Check the Certification page on the IIA website for continuing updates. ------------------------------------------- Chapter Directory - The 2007-2008 Tidewater Chapter Directory is available online and in .pdf format.
